Sadhu is a simple yoga device

One of the rather persistent stereotypes about practicing ancient Hindu practices is the necessity of prolonged "taming" of the flesh, as only by deliberately inflicting pain can one train the patience necessary to achieve the necessary state of mind. Often in feature films, yogis are depicted as exhausted Hindus standing or lying on a torture board with nails for legs.

In fact, this practice (stand on nails) does not cause any suffering because due to the correct distribution of body weight, the pressure exerted by the point of the protruding nails is not sufficient to damage the skin. Sadhu's nails themselves have a special sharpening which prevents piercing of the skin. A beginner gets used to the board quite quickly.
